Production Manager – Banner and T-Shirt Printing

Job description

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Production Manager to oversee the daily operations of our banner and T-shirt printing business. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of large-format printing, heat press, direct-to-garment (DTG), and screen printing. They will be responsible for ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, managing staff, and optimizing workflow to meet customer demands.  

Key responsibilities:

1. Production and operations management

• Supervise and manage the entire printing process for banners, T-shirts, and other promotional materials.
• Schedule and prioritise orders to meet deadlines efficiently.  
• Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of printing equipment (large-format printers, heat press, DTG, screen printing machines, vinyl cutters, etc.).  
• Implement quality control measures to minimize printing errors, ink wastage, and material loss.  

2. Staff and team management

• Lead and train a team of machine operators, graphic designers, and production staff.
• Assign tasks and monitor productivity to ensure smooth workflow.  
• Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to improve efficiency.  

3. Customer order management

• Work closely with the sales team and customers to ensure orders meet expectations.  
• Provide input on design adjustments, print feasibility, and material selection.  
• Resolve customer complaints related to print quality, delays, or other issues.  

4. Equipment and inventory management

• Oversee the maintenance and servicing of printing equipment.  
• Track and manage stock levels of ink, vinyl, T-shirts, fabrics, and other materials.  
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely restocking and negotiate better pricing.  

5. Business and cost management

• Monitor production costs and suggest ways to reduce waste and improve profit margins.  
• Ensure the factory meets industry health, safety, and environmental standards.  
• Work with the business owner to plan for expansion, new technology adoption, and workflow improvements.

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum five years in large-format printing, T-shirt printing, or a related field.  

Technical skills:  

• Knowledge of large-format printers, DTG, heat press, and screen-printing machines.  
• Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, and RIP software.  
• Experience in colour management, print calibration, and fabric printing techniques.  
• Leadership: Proven ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and improve efficiency.  
• Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot printing machine issues and production delays.  
• Business acumen: Understanding of pricing, production costs, and profit margins.  
• Attention to detail: Strong focus on quality control and meeting customer expectations.  

Preferred qualifications:  

• Five years experience in digital printing, UV printing, sublimation, or embroidery is a plus.

Work environment:

• Factory setting with exposure to printing equipment and chemicals.  
• Fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and problem-solving.  
• Occasional extended hours during peak seasons.
