Road and Store Supervisor

Purpose:

Manage teams and plan daily activities for routine road maintenance (RRM) on the Bakwena N1 N4 toll highway, including the highway itself, the median, and the road reserve areas. Responsibilities include storekeeping, inventory management, equipment cleaning, material and equipment procurement, and ensuring all machinery remains fully functional through maintenance and record-keeping.

Qualifications, skills, and competencies

• Grade 12
• Any technical qualification will be advantageous
• Valid, unendorsed Code EC driver’s licence (must be able to drive with a trailer)
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Knowledge of company policies and related legislation
• Experience in equipment and storekeeping, as well as general maintenance of equipment and machinery
• At least five years of supervision experience
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Expert knowledge of road maintenance equipment, road signs, and machinery
• Strong interpersonal relationship skills
• Physically fit to move heavy objects
• Ability to supervise team members

Essential duties and responsibilities

• Perform physically demanding work related to road maintenance and storekeeping
• Drive a vehicle with a trailer and provide support during road incidents or accidents across approximately 380 km of highway
• Work in all weather conditions, with occasional overtime duties required
• Operate within a toll road environment, including on-site work and storekeeping duties
• Travel and occasionally stay outside Pretoria along the highway route for specific periods
• Procure stock, equipment, and machinery following company procurement policies
• Store stock, equipment, and machinery systematically for easy identification and stock-taking purposes
• Maintain accurate records of all purchases and issued stock, equipment, and machinery
• Repair malfunctioning equipment following suppliers' maintenance manuals
• Fix damaged road furniture, such as guardrails, road signs, and poles
• Ensure tools remain in good and clean working order
• Adhere to all health, safety, and security policies and procedures
• Maintain all equipment, road furniture, and machinery to meet contractual obligations
• Perform overtime and standby duties as required
