Operations Manager

EPX Courier Services is looking for a seasoned operations manager for the Pinetown Branch in Durban. The experienced professional will have at least five years experience in managing logistics, freight and staff.

• Monitoring freight collections, departures and arrivals
• Ensuring timeous departures of vehicles
• Monitoring and managing freight handling and the application of collection and dispatch procedures
• Monitoring expenses including fuel consumption, vehicle services, milage records, traffic violations, freight discrepancies and damaged freight.
• Managing data capturing processes and procedures
• Monitoring and ensuring: on time delivery, actioning missed collections, ensuring data capturing errors are fixed, optimising productivity levels per route and effective POD capturing
• Maintaining assets like scanners, warehouse equipment and ensuring vehicle maintenance are done timeously
• Managing and controlling a staff compliment of 100 people and taking corrective action in terms of problems identified

Requirements:

• Preference will be given to candidates with at least 5 years operational logistics experience.
• Tertiary qualification in Logistics/Transport will be advantageous
• Must be fluent in English
• Knowledge of logistical/courier software – Parcel Perfect
• Strong managerial skills and able to work in a high-pressure environment
• An in-depth understanding of freight operational processes and knowledge of road freight in South Africa
• Work well under pressure and motivate staff
• Attention to details and accuracy
• Self-motivated, presentable and willing to work flexible hours
