What you need for the role:

• Degree in IT or relevant experience.
• Qualification or certification in back-end development technologies.
• Eight years of development experience.
• Agile working experience (mandatory).
• Expertise in:
  • Java 8, 11, 17+.
  • AWS.
  • RESTful services.
  • Git.
  • JEE 5+.
  • CI/CD.
• Knowledge of:
  • Design patterns.
  • OOP (object-oriented programming and design).
  • API development, calling and creating REST services, RESTful APIs.
• Additional skills (highly advantageous):
  • Quarkus.
  • AWS or other cloud services and serverless development technologies.
  • Terraform.
  • OpenAPI / Swagger.
  • DynamoDB.
  • Git / GitHub Enterprise.
  • GitHub actions.
  • Code quality tools like Sonar, Nexus, JSON, and OAUTH.

What you will be doing:

• Propose and review system designs and evaluate alternatives.
• Review and present proposals or system solutions to the IT project lead, DevOps team, QA team, and product owner or business team.
• Develop system solutions in line with IT security standards, compliance topics, quality standards, and delivery requirements.
• Develop code that is readable, extendable, reusable, scalable, and optimised for performance.
• Ensure all implementations can be handed over to other developers mid-development with minimal handover.
• Ensure compliance and adherence to standards for audit requirements and quality assurance.

This is a contract position based in Midrand, Centurion, or semi-remote, offering a contract rate of R650 per hour (negotiable based on experience and ability).
