Financial Accountant

• Accurate running of the accounting and financial activities of the company.
• Analyse the economic stability of the company and provide financial information to other departments, enabling these stakeholders to make operational, budgeting, and strategic decisions.
• Report on costs, productivity, margins, and group performance.

• Grade 12.
• BComm degree with major coursework in accounting, finance, economics or a related field (completed articles would be advantageous).
• Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel) and SAGE Evolution.
• Three to five years of related experience.

• At least three years of financial management experience.
• Knowledge of international financial reporting standards.
• Familiarity with auditing practices and principles.
• Proficiency in computer applications related to the role.
• Understanding of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Certificate of medical fitness.

All duties take place in accordance with the requirements of the client, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other relevant legislation.

• Overall financial management and oversight related to multiple projects.
• Completion and submission of monthly invoices (including supporting documentation) for multiple projects.
• Management of insurance claims relating to multiple projects.
• Preparation of journal entries and general ledger and various account reconciliations.
• Completion of the bank reconciliation and relevant cash book entries.
• Management of the fixed asset register.
• Assisting with monthly management accounts.
• Analysing performance against budgets.
• Reviewing and releasing of EFTs/payments.
• Assisting with managing daily/monthly cash flows.
• Ensuring all tax, regulatory, and other statutory requirements are attended to and complied with.
• Overseeing and controlling trade debtors and creditors control functions.
• Developing and implementing financial management controls and mechanisms to minimise financial risk.
• Liaising with external auditors.
• Handling group company secretarial duties as agreed with the group.
• Assisting with the annual BEE audit.
• Preparation of annual financial statements.
• Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets.
• Performing other financial-related activities as required by the group financial manager and/or CFO.
• Managing subordinate staff.
• Ad hoc travel within South Africa as required.
