Introduction

Elemental, a web and software development company based in Sandown, Cape Town, is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team full-time. In this role, you will manage various bookkeeping and accounting functions essential to the company’s financial operations, as outlined below. Location

This is a remote role. However, the candidate must reside in Cape Town or surrounding areas, as occasional in-person meetings are required at our Sandown office (near Sunningdale).

Job specification

• Invoicing: Ad hoc and recurring invoicing
• Processing debit orders
• Quoting
• Payroll (including PAYE preparation and submission)
• Supplier payments
• VAT calculations and submission
• Reconciliation of bank accounts and credit cards
• Credit card reconciliation
• Debtors: Follow up and issue statements
• Prepare management and financial reports
• Maintain accurate filing systems for financial records, receipts, and invoices
• Perform other administrative duties as needed

Requirements

• A diploma in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or a related field is highly advantageous.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in bookkeeping is required.
• At least two years of experience working with Xero is essential.

Skills

• Understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
• Proficiency in Xero accounting software
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Excellent numeracy skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, etc)
• Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
• Highly trustworthy and honest
