Peter Mann has been chief executive of Meropa Communications (www.meropa.co.za) since 1989 and is a founder of the business.

Mann became a journalist in 1973 and worked for most of South Africa's major newspapers, including the Rand Daily Mail, The Natal Mercury and The Star. He was political correspondent of the Sunday Tribune for five years, deputy news editor and political editor of then Argus South African Newspapers in London, and news editor of The Star, responsible for all news coverage in the country's largest newsroom during the '86/87 states of emergency. He rose to be a senior assistant editor and night editor of The Star and ran the Argus Cadet course for two years.

He is a member of appeals panel of the South African Press Council; and a trustee of literacy NGO READ.
