Carolyn Holgate, part-time tech guru and general manager at leading internet service provider MWEB is responsible for the strategic focus of the consumer division, offering Internet access to the consumer and SOHO/SME markets.

After heading up the marketing at Readers Digest she subsequently moved to the Internet realm when she took on the role of Customer Relationship Marketing Manager at MWEB in 2004. She quickly ventured up the corporate ladder to head the marketing division in 2006 and was later appointed in her current position as General Manager for MWEB Connect in 2009.

As South Africa's leading Internet Service Provider, MWEB offers a variety of Internet access options, differentiated tools and services, best of breed technology guarantee and internationally sourced R&D to benefit its approximately 320 000 subscribers. Holgate is responsible for connectivity products in the consumer and SME markets as well as product and marketing strategy to ensure the MWEB brand stays top of mind.

"Being the GM of South Africa's leading consumer Internet Service Provider is both exciting and challenging as technology is constantly changing and one needs to stay on top of industry and product developments," says Holgate. "Consumers and small business owners expect a lot from their ISP and it's important for us to constantly aim to meet and exceed these expectations."

When asked what she enjoys most about working for MWEB, she quickly retorts, "I love the fast-paced ever changing environment, the innovation and most importantly the fact that we have made Internet access affordable and a reality to more South Africans."

Outside of work she enjoys spending time outdoors. Other little pleasures in life include quality time with her family, keeping fit by running on Sea Point's Promenade and appreciating a fine wine.
