The IIE Varsity College, Westville Campus, has a vacancy for a lecturer: humanities and social sciences.

Duties and responsibilities

Lecturing

• Lecture on programmes (must lecture on an IIE qualification) across various modes of delivery where relevant.
• Mark assessments and provide feedback to students in subjects lectured.
• May be required to internally moderate assessment scripts within their subject fields, where necessary across IIE sites of delivery.

Lecturer development and support

• Assist in lecturer development and support processes and procedures, which may include conducting peer reviews, facilitating workshops, and one-on-one consultations.

Lecturer and material development and support

• Assist with the development of assessments and other learning materials as required.

Student development and support

• Champion/lead and manage academic development and support for a specific programme and its students.
• Track student success and implement support interventions where required.

Research and scholarship

• Promote a culture of scholarship within practice, discipline, and campus/team.
• Contribute towards IIE Varsity College achieving its annual research output targets.

Competencies required

• Superior communication (written and verbal) and organisational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage work and self proactively.
• Proven track record of effective teaching in the subject area, based on reflective practice.
• Ability to manage relationships with managers and staff effectively, particularly regarding motivation, quality, and performance.
• Passion for customer service.
• Experience in using technology to enhance learning is an advantage.

Minimum education requirements

• Relevant master’s qualification in psychology.
• HPCSA registered.

Minimum work experience requirements

• Minimum of three to five years of teaching and learning experience in higher education.
• Postgraduate supervision (advantageous).
• Research output (advantageous).

Working hours
Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 17:00

Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
