Qualifications and skills

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
• Fire Fighter 1 qualification.
• First Aid level 3 or registered Basic Ambulance Assistant qualification with HPCSA – valid membership card.
• Good written and verbal English communication skills.
• Excellent customer relation skills.
• Good listening skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Must possess a valid Code 10/C1 unendorsed driver’s licence and PRDP for a minimum of two years.
• Able to work shifts.
• Certificate of medical fitness.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Patrolling a designated section of the N3 route.
• Assisting road users in cases of breakdowns with petrol, water, and changing tyres.
• Responding to incidents and providing first aid where necessary.
• Performing scene safety and pre-warning to secure accidents/incidents.
• Extinguishing grass and vehicle fires when required.
• Removing objects that may threaten the safety of road users.
• Maintaining cleanliness and care of vehicles, tools, and equipment.
• Recording and reporting all damages, shortages, and incidents to the specialist incident manager.
