Job summary:

The general manager / office manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an electronic waste management company. This role requires a versatile individual with experience in health and safety, sales administration, human resources, and transport and logistics. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, capable of managing multiple departments and ensuring the company operates efficiently and in compliance with all relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities:

Health and safety management:
  • Implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Manage the training and certification of staff in health and safety protocols.
Sales administration:
  • Oversee the sales administration process, including order processing, invoicing, and customer service.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyse sales data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Human resources:
  • Oversee HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies.
  • Manage payroll and benefits administration.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.
Transport and logistics:
  • Coordinate and manage the transportation of electronic waste materials.
  • Optimise logistics processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
  • Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and transport companies to ensure timely delivery and pick-up.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage warehouse operations.
Operational management:
  • Oversee day-to-day office operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Manage budgets and financial performance, ensuring cost control and profitability.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to support business growth.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
Leadership and team management:
  • Lead and mentor a team of department heads and office staff.
  • Conduct regular meetings to review performance, set goals, and address any issues.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Handle conflict resolution and maintain high staff morale.
Qualifications and experience:
  • Minimum two-year diploma in a business management-related field.
  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in a management role, preferably within the waste management, recycling, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in sales administration, HR management, and logistics.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant management software.
