Senior Legal Counsel

• Law degree and admission in the relevant jurisdiction (South Africa).

• Minimum five years’ post-admission commercial law experience in negotiating, drafting, and vetting commercial agreements including software, technology, digital services and intellectual property transactions and agreements.
• Broad risk management (including regulatory and compliance) and corporate governance experience.

• Ensuring that the business enters into commercial arrangements (including ICT and IP) on terms that are acceptable to the company and which reflect best practices and appropriately manage risks.
• Providing appropriate legal advice to the business regarding the Group’s rights and obligations under corporate and commercial arrangements (including ICT and IP) and related legal matters.
• Ensuring internal clients receive appropriate advice when disputes arise.
• Managing external law firm relationships, engagements and costs.
• Providing accurate, timely, commercial advice in plain English.
• Ensuring deadlines are strictly adhered to.
• Working actively and productively as a team member, including willingly sharing your expertise with others and clarifying the tasks assigned to you.
