Responsibilities

• Data analysis: Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights to guide business strategies and decisions
• Model development: Build and implement predictive and prescriptive models using machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques
• Data exploration: Conduct data preprocessing to ensure data quality, completeness, and suitability for analysis
• Hypothesis testing: Design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and assess business initiatives’ impact
• Visualisation: Create engaging data visualisations and dashboards to present findings and insights to stakeholders
• A/B testing: Design and analyse A/B tests to optimise product features, user experience, and marketing campaigns

Qualifications and experience

• Degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field
• Proven experience as a data scientist with at least five years of experience in data analysis and predictive modelling
• Proficiency in data manipulation and analysis tools like Python or R
• Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Tableau
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation
• Familiarity with big data technologies and distributed computing (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is advantageous
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Contract details

• Reference number: NG59734
• Duration: Twelve-month contract position
• Location: Johannesburg
• Rate: R400 to R600 per hour, negotiable based on experience
