An esteemed and forward-thinking bank in South Africa is seeking a highly experienced data engineer to join their innovative team. This permanent position offers a competitive salary of up to R1 Million per annum and is based in the vibrant city of Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be a crucial player in transforming data into actionable insights and driving the bank's data-driven strategies forward.
Key responsibilities:
Develop and maintain robust data models to support business analytics and decision-making processes.
Utilise Power BI to create comprehensive and user-friendly data visualizations.
Implement and manage ETL processes using SSIS to ensure seamless data integration and transformation.
Work with Azure (preferred) or AWS cloud technologies to build and manage scalable data pipelines and storage solutions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions that meet business needs.
Conduct data modelling to design and structure data systems that enhance data accessibility and usability.
Ensure data quality and integrity through diligent data validation and monitoring practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, maintaining data availability and consistency.
Qualifications and experience:
Minimum of six years of experience in data engineering or a related field.
Proven experience with Power BI for data visualisation.
Strong expertise in SSIS for ETL processes.
Experience with Azure is preferred, but candidates with AWS experience will also be considered.
Demonstrated ability in data modelling and designing data systems.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Experience without a degree will be considered based on the candidate's proficiency and track record.
