We are seeking a skilled Data Integration and Engineering Specialist to manage data extraction, transformation, and integration across various platforms. This role involves designing efficient database architectures, developing automated pipelines, and creating insightful data visualisations for decision-making.

Responsibilities

Data integration and query development

• Develop robust queries to extract data from external APIs with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
• Design, implement, and manage BigQuery databases for optimal data storage and organisation.
• Create and maintain ETL processes to enable seamless data ingestion and transformation.

Data engineering and management

• Build and maintain automated pipelines for transforming and integrating data across systems.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve database performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct regular audits of data structures and implement best practices for data security and management.

Data visualisation and frontend development

• Design engaging front-end interfaces for data visualisation using JavaScript libraries like D3.js or Chart.js.
• Work with UI/UX designers to ensure user-friendly interfaces for stakeholders.
• Provide actionable insights through interactive visualisations to facilitate data-driven decision-making.

Cross-functional collaboration and support

• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and product managers to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.
• Provide training on GCP, BigQuery, and API integration to team members.
• Participate in code reviews, share knowledge, and promote best practices.

Requirements

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, information systems, or a related field.
• At least three years’ experience as a database developer, data engineer, or in a similar role focused on cloud-based solutions.

Technical skills

• Proficient in BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for managing and optimising data.
• Advanced SQL skills for writing and optimising complex queries.
• Expertise in setting up API integrations and managing authentication processes.
• Strong background in building and maintaining ETL pipelines.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and libraries such as D3.js or Chart.js for data visualisation.
• Experience with version control tools like Git.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with additional GCP services like Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, or Dataflow.
• Experience with data visualisation platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker).
• Knowledge of data warehouse best practices.
• Proficiency in Python or another scripting language.
