On 24 November BMi Research, in conjunction with Protea Hotel OR Tambo, hosted a graduation ceremony for Grade R learners, with BMi Research donating stationery packs and the Protea Hotel OR Tambo Airport donating food for the learners who completed Grade R this year and their families.
"Starting Grade 1 with the right tools is vital to good primary education," says Gareth Pearson, CEO of BMi Research. "We see this as a small, but vital, contribution to the job that Ubuhle are doing".
On 29 November, BMi Research also held a cycle challenge in aid of Ubuhle. The challenge covered a total distance of 230km over 2 days. Team members involved in the challenge were from BMi Research and 4PL Group amongst others. The teams were sponsored per km and managed to raise R25 000 for Ubuhle Care and Development Centre.
Ubuhle was founded in 2008 by local women and men who work on a voluntary basis. Ubuhle offers social care, pre-school and an English primary school up to level 3, after-school care, workshops and courses for adults, as well as some aid to develop new income sources to 200 black families living in the rural area.
