On 22 June 2017, the South African final took place at BURGER KING® N1 City in Cape Town. Regional winners went head to head showing off their skills as they set out to meet the strict judging criteria set in place to make the perfect gold standard WHOPPER®.
The three regional winners: Cynthia Nkhoesa from BURGER KING® Canal Walk (Western Cape), Lunghile Kwenda from BURGER KING® Centurion Lifestyle (Gauteng), and Fikile Nhlengechwa from BURGER KING® Richard’s Bay (Kwa Zulu Natal), showed the judges what makes them the best.
Judging was based on: quality presentation, the perfect weight and speed of service. Although the competition was tight, Cynthia Nkhoesa from BURGER KING® Canal Walk was crowned the champion. She received R5 000 and will now stand a chance to jet off to London to compete globally against winners from other competing countries. Lunghile Kwenda received R3 000 while Fikile Nhlengechwa walked away with R 2 000 for finishing second and third respectively.
