The 12 Public and Business Management False Bay TVET College students who concluded the work readiness programme were acknowledged for their commitment to the GAP curriculum. The seven-month programme, rolling out alongside their business studies programme, consisted of exercises which would equip and enable the students once completed to enter the corporate world with confidence. In addition to skills learnt with the programme, graduates also received vouchers to continue growing their skills set consisting of a three-month driver’s education programme and three-month communication skills programme, all of which is funded by Access Trust.
Ms Helga Jansen-Daugbjerg, a Director of Access Trust, says, “Youth Employment and youth readiness for work is a national point of conversation. How ready are young people to enter the world of work? Access Trust has responded to this question by not only supporting TVET students with bursaries, but accompanying them in the area of work readiness. Work readiness skills empower young professionals to apply and adapt to the changing working environment with a greater ease.”
Among the attending guests and speakers, student Asanda Mqala expressed in her speech, “There are so many lessons in life that you need to persevere and learn from, through your own experiences. But I can attest that through this programme, I feel more apt to handle them professionally and logically. The lessons learnt from Access Trust are not only work-related, but personal skills I will be able to use throughout my professional and personal life. I am grateful for the support and mentorship I received.”
False Bay TVET College will continue to endorse and support the amazing work of the Access Trust TVET GAP programme.
