Job description:
You will be responsible for approximately 90% influencer marketing and 10% traditional PR, ensuring that our clients' stories are told through both modern and traditional channels. 

As a PR manager with a specialisation in influencer marketing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our clients' brand narratives, increasing their online visibility, and driving engagement with their target audiences.

You will also be responsible for the execution of the occasional media campaign and maintaining media relations. From time to time, you might be required to facilitate crisis resolution and management, PR events and managing PR campaigns for our clients.

Key responsibilities:
Influencer Marketing (approximately 90%):
You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive influencer marketing proposals that drive brand awareness, engagement, and conversions for our clients. You will play a pivotal role in identifying and partnering with influencers who align with our clients' brands and objectives, ultimately maximising their online presence and impact.

  • Proposal development: Develop and execute slick and professional influencer marketing proposals that align with clients' objectives and target demographics.
  • Influencer relationship management: Identify new influencers to partner with and build relationships with relevant influencers across various industries and platforms.
  • Internal collaboration and coordination: work closely with creative departments, client service teams and SMMs to ensure smooth rollout of influencer campaigns against concepts and campaign objectives 
  • Campaign planning and management: Create and manage influencer marketing campaigns from start to finish, including content creation, collaborations, and partnerships. On occasion there may be product/press drops that fall within this remit.
  • Influencer briefing and collaboration: Collaborate closely with influencers to create compelling and authentic content that resonates with their audiences and showcases our clients’ products and services, ensuring that content aligns with clients’ brand messaging and guidelines and the creative brief.
  • Influencer-related administrative duties: you will be responsible for the issuing and negotiating of influencer contracts on behalf of 99c, adhering to tax-related and payment-related requirements from the Finance Department, including raising CEs/POs & PQs, ensuring that suppliers and influencers are paid timeously and in accordance with 99c’s internal policies as well as legal guidelines. 
  • Performance analysis: Track and analyse the success of influencer campaigns, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for improvements. This includes benchmarking, KPIs and reporting
  • Budget management: Manage influencer marketing budgets efficiently, ensuring that campaigns are cost-effective and maximises ROI for client.
  • Digital tools and technology: Fully adopt the use of digital technologies and tools such as Stellar to conduct influencer searches and to create detailed reports.
  • Thought leadership and keeping up to date with Trends: staying abreast of latest happenings and trends in social media and the influencer marketing landscape to provide recommendations and insights for future campaigns.
Traditional PR (approximately 10%):
Traditional PR will form part of your job function; however, this kind of work will come in on an ad hoc basis and will likely take anywhere from up to10% of your time. In these instances, you will play an important role in managing and growing client relationships, developing PR campaigns, and ensuring that client objectives are met. You will work closely with clients, media contacts, and our internal teams to deliver exceptional PR results. 

On occasion, you will be required to provide PR support for client events and activations, product launches and announcements. You might also be required to assist in managing any potential PR crises and develop strategies to mitigate any negative publicity.

In terms of PR planning, an ad hoc job requirement will also be to develop and execute PR strategies that align with clients’ business objectives and target audiences.
  • Media relations: Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts to pitch stories and secure press coverage for clients.
  • Press release creation: Write (or oversee) and distribute optimised press releases to relevant media outlets.
  • Team collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams, including client service, copywriters, designers, and social media managers to ensure seamless campaign execution.
  • Budget management: Manage client budgets, ensuring campaigns are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Reporting: Track media coverage and engagement, and report results internally and to clients.
Key skills:
  • English language fluency, written and spoken.
  • Copywriting skills: You need to be diligent about spelling, grammar and proof-reading, as well as have a creative flair for producing engaging copy.
  • Presentation skills: From communicating ideas to clients, to presenting stories to media, you need to organize information in a strategic, professional and succinct manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: Whether it’s over the phone, by email or in person, PR is all about people, so you need to be approachable, friendly, and professional, and be able to relate to people on different levels within the agency, with clients and with the media.
  • Time management: You will often be working to tight deadlines as well as meeting the demands and pressures of your clients, so you need to be able to work quickly and efficiently without compromising on quality.
  • Self-motivated, hardworking and eager to learn attitude.
  • Excellent analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills are a must.
  • Ability to think creatively and out-of-the-box.

Minimum relevant experience and skills/attributes required:
  • Tertiary qualification in public relations, social media marketing or digital Marketing is essential.
  • At least three years’ working as a PR Account Manager or in an Influencer Marketing role.
  • Previous experience in an advertising or PR agency.
  • Experience working on social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn platforms.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams).
  • Strong administrative experience and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage multiple jobs at the same time.
