Tokara is optimistic about a fine vintage
Tokara winemaker Stuart Botha has expressed optimism about the prospects of a fine vintage. The family-owned Stellenbosch wine estate on the crest of the Helshoogte Pass has started the 2019 harvest with relatively cool summer temperatures.
The region experienced a cool spring - with the exception of a few hot days in October - followed by mild summer temperatures. Botha says that the cooler ripening may have a positive effect on the red wines as they may benefit from slower ripening and longer hang time in the vineyards.
