Premiere of FW de Klerk biopic at DIFF
Through his probing lens, award-winning director Nicolas Rossier explores de Klerk's fascinating political journey and examines the legacy of this complicated figure.

Co-production
The film is a US-South Africa co-production between Rossier's New York based Baraka Productions and Naashon Zalk Media, a Cape Town based production company.
FW de Klerk was South Africa's last white apartheid-era President. In less than four years, he went from being Mandela's jailor to his deputy president. Together, they changed the face of South African history and warded off a potential civil war. Yet little is known about de Klerk.
Story of South Africa
Three years in the making, the story of de Klerk is also the story of South Africa. Its oppressive history and stunning transformation continues to inform the country's social and political identity in real and tangible ways and its effects can be felt on an international scale.
The film features in-depth, exclusive interviews with de Klerk, Thabo Mbeki, Roelf Meyer, Leon Wessels, Albie Sachs, Mathews Phosa, Yasmin Sooka, Richard Goldstone and many others who played a vital role in pre- and post-apartheid South Africa.
